๐ SimilarWorlds is a "Top 100" Reporter of Child Predators ๐ก๏ธ
Did you know that SimilarWorlds is within the "Top 100 Companies" world-wide, in terms of volume of reporting Child Predators, Child Abuse and Exploitation?
Based on Law Enforcement interaction and feedback, we are likely also seen as one of the most helpful, responsive and compliant companies for Law and Child Protection Agencies to work with.
We are thankful to our users' continued help and support in this area; and we do believe that we have a larger percentage of users who are serious about tacking child predators, when compared to mostly any other platform.
Top Reporters of Child Predators, Child Abuse and Exploitation, Worldwide:
1) Facebook 2) Instagram, Inc. 3) Google 4) WhatsApp Inc. 5) Omegle.com LLC 6) Snapchat 7) TikTok Inc. ... 75) Apple Inc 76) Spotify USA Inc. 77) SimilarWorlds 78) LinkedIn Corporation
(We will put out some more official data in some weeks/months.)
We freely volunteer out of our working hours, putting our best efforts into helping to tackle in the ongoing global fight against child predators.
It's therefore quite sad to see that some members continue to spread 100% false claims, such as these:
As mentioned before, such false, and negative statements, only serve to drive more "unwanted" types of users to our platform, while scaring away potential "good users" who can add positively to our community.
It is beneficial to our community, when more users review about the positive aspects of our platform as well.
Admins alone, cannot create a positive image of our community. (We know that everything isn't "Perfect" here, but we do try our best).
"This website should be reported for being a safe haven for pedos."
"SimilarWorlds should be Reported" ... yet we are daily working hand-in hand with all major Child Protection Agencies and Law Enforcement, in combatting child predators and child abuse. ๐คท ๐
We don't know if some people see the claim "supporting pedos" as a "joke"... something to casually throw around when wanting to wrongly accuse others.
Nevertheless, all false claims purporting that our staff and/or platform is engaging in illegal activities will continue to be logged, and eventually dealt with.
In the same way, predators cannot "safely say or share illegal things", without eventually being persecuted by the law. (even using VPNs, throwaway emails, etc...)
"Reviewers" making illegal claims, even on "other platforms", should not feel that they are beyond the law, either.
I believe it.. Iโve said it many times, admins need evidence to be able to report. A lot of times people think what they see is enough and assume itโs being โlet go,โ but they donโt consider that itโs being monitored to get the proof that they need.
SW-User
@MellyMel22 Exactly! And it's best to report without responding to their messages and posts, so that they don't delete potential evidence!
Well done! Iโm so happy to know you are in the fight for these precious children. Predators are everywhere, and on every site, that canโt be helped, but itโs calling those predators out thatโs important, and reporting them, and banning them from the site, and SW is doing this.
Problem with review and rating sites is those posting aren't required to explain the reason for their review. So any agency monitoring is just doing what they do picking up keywords on their system and investigating. That must annoy those who run the site being investigated since you have no point of reference other than the complainant's user history.
But it's good SimilarWorlds is compliant with law enforcement and better that you have a reputation for being so. With regard to false or fake reviews painting a site as a potential illegal haven for criminal offences, you're absolutely right ! Slander is slander no matter what platform it's on and should be prosecutable online as it is in real life.
Some people wake up in the morning, and start looking for ways to be hateful and negative, instead of doing anything that might benefit anyone else. It's good to know that SW takes reports of pedos and other illegal activities seriously. Thank you, Andrew.
More should be done to discourage underage users posting from adult age profiles where they state their true age of 13,14,15. Ect. On their home page While using the adult age to access adult groups and content.
Iโve blocked dozens of such users as soon as I become aware of them. Isnโt it a violation of the TOS?
Thanks for the feedback. If you have suggestions towards this, feel free to let us know.
We don't fully understand why some users choose to do this. It's possible that it's a "Habit" they have already developed, when registering to new websites, to evade restrictions and limitations.
Isnโt it a violation of the TOS?
It is, and we do address those situations, when discovered.
However, people tend to "do what they want" online, and it's very difficult to police everything other people choose to do.
As a side-note: If we did happen to make the site as "18+ only", as some have suggested, it would be even more unsafe for minors, as they would still register on the platform anyway, if they have interest in using it, but will surely always lie about their age.
Then, Predators, if confronted by law enforcement, can also use the excuse of "This is an Adult-only site", as a reason not being aware of, or not paying attention to, a minor's actual age.
Iโm happy to hear it. I remember how bad EP got toward the end and I always worry SW will end up the same. Iโm very grateful for all of your hard work to prevent that and hold these sickos accountable. I wish we could catch them allโฆ.itโs such a terrible thing that we should even have to fear that sort of behavior.
Thank you for working with law enforcement to get these people put in prison. Itโs just too bad thereโs so many users who come here to use this website in that way because SW is not intended for that.
No, I neither had any clue nor do I know anything on the subject. Yet, if the site is into offering help in the mentioned way, I extend my gratitude to All concerned for the noble effort.
@SW-User i have a problem with the site allowing both nudity and minors .... even though they have measures to prevent minor accounts from accessing adult themes they do not have measures to prevent a minor from changing their age
SW-User
@SW-User Same! We seriously don't need nudity on SW. It wasn't even allowed on EP! Back on EP people could write about sexual topics but not downright post nudity!
Though we did have private albums where people probably posted nudes, but it didn't bother anyone since you only saw them if they gave you the password.. some people just had normal photos showing their faces in those albums, as to not let anyone see what they look like.
Here's another one for you to take a look at, he thinks that it's okay to be looking at his 12 year old cousin's private parts and writing about it here:-
Thanks. ๐ The post is now hidden from feeds, and the poster noted.
While such posts are not directionally actionable by Child Protection Services or Law Enforcement, such content can serve as "Leads" to other more substantial evidence.
As well, those who interact with such posts, can put themselves on the "radar".
(For good reason, we avoid commenting too much about how law enforcement and ourselves monitor and narrow down potential child predator suspects.)
@Andrew It's not as lewd as some posts I've seen - and he hasn't confessed to a direct crime... but it was still inappropriate behaviour and (like you said) could lead to worse posts down the line from here, especially when it's a new account.
I'm glad that those who interact with such posts also get their time under the spotlight, too. I've often worried about their part in child abuse, even if they don't make posts about it - they do encourage those who do. So they are abusing "by proxy".
@Justice4All Are you for real? People upload pictures that shouldnโt be here or talk about things relating to children. You comment on such things then you will be reported for that.
Why are you worried about your private messages? If you arenโt doing anything illegal like talking to minors about sex or sending child sexual abuse material then what are you worried about?
This is a private website, you agree to Terms of Service when you open an account here. If you are doing illegal things here then your info is going to be sent to law enforcement. Is it your first day on the internet?
@GlitterEater If you see anything that meets this criteria you need to flag it so admin can deal with it. If this stuff doesnโt get reported then it will remain here longer than it should.
It's unfortunate that something like this is happening tbh, I think the real answer is to not let minors use this website and consider this an 18+ only site as well as not allow pedophilia to exist here tbh!
@SW-User I donโt think pretending that people are reporting pedophiles because theyโre just annoying is nearly as edgy-endearing as you think it is
SW-User
@itsok I'm sorry. It's wrong to make jokes. I'll be quiet.
Looking through the many fake profiles, with adults and children in there pics, all accounts being in verified too by the way..I'd say you're a long way to Go to get near this so called claim
So then how come SW has a lot of hidden groups and members that posts extremely heinous things, hmmm? You and Nunes have restricted me time after time for me going after such perverts and trolls, ever since my early days as NativeOregonian on EP, in fact I have been told that my old SW NativeOregonian account is hidden, effectively shadowbanned, from pretty much everyone else. I deeply cherish my Friends on SW, I was on EP way before facebook and twitter, it's where I feel most at Home, and I feel that it's my duty to help protect them from those who wish to prey on them. I know you do not like my methods, but it's who I am, someone that never backs down from a fight, call it a trait from being abused as a child.
@NativePortlander So then how come SW has a lot of hidden groups
What Hidden Groups are you referring to? Group Consolidation is still a long, ongoing process (of manually re-categorizing and merging hundreds of thousands of groups). There are many groups that are still "Inactive", until consolidated, but we've tackled most of the larger groups so far.
There have been numerous "Inappropriate Groups" that were Banned from usage.
@NativePortlander and members that posts extremely heinous things, hmmm?
We can't control everything people choose to post online. We tackle what is inappropriate, as soon as we are able to.
I'm not sure what you are referring to in the rest of your message. However, there is a "Correct Way" in going about reporting illegal or suspicious activity, on any platform.
Even Law Enforcement constantly reminds us to: Not make any actions towards a suspected account, which could "Tip them off".
Something tells me that you were going about it the wrong way.
@Andrew I have recent screenshots of groups that are apparently still active and not hidden, but since I am currently under restriction I cannot show you them as restriction doesn't allow me to show you until next week on the 31st. I do not tip them off, I merely insult them and let them know what I think of them.
