My stepfather was just like this. He was a redneck bigot that threatened me and attacked my culture and spirituality and calls it bronze age BS, hold up I'm Native American and this guy brought the flashbacks back to me.
My stepfather was a redneck bigot and he's mostly a secular person. I can't stand both religious bigots and secular bigots that attack people and don't have respect.
@Peaceandnamaste I believe we can balance those. I don't think living off the land is primitive, though people can simplify it a lot if they choose.
I am in favor of progress and industrialization. I just think they are aimed in the wrong direction. If we built things with longevity and maintainability in mind it would be far less destructive. The problem with modern industrialization is the need to grow profit. If a company built refrigerators to last two hundred years, they would eventually run out of people who need refrigerators. That would be amazing for society, but it's very bad for business.
@Human1000 we'll have to see how the republican embracing of far authoritarian goes with libertarians. Trumpian fascist leanings did kind of unease some of them, but most still viewed him as the lesser of two evils. If we see DeDantis in there it will be interesting to see what they do, as DeDantis is also very authoritarian but fits into a neater more presentable package. I'm guessing they will favor him, because taxation is somehow one of the greatest evils in their minds and Republicans play to that.
