I Question The Age Of Consent

Something definitly needs doing about the law now as time and life has moved on .Alot of kids are far more mature for their age now and I know of kids who have lost their innocence at 12 / 13 /14 .You are also seeing 13/14 year olds having kids of their own .I am not saying I agree with it , but its a fact of life .We need to look at it with fresh ideas and maybe we should start sex education far earlier so by early teens these kids have a more realistic and rounded education on lets face it can have a real effect on the rest of their lives .Parents and teachers need to get real and stop trying to push it under the carpet or just not talk about it etc .We have to get with the 21st century .Kids are learning from each other because adults dont talk about it .The minute my kids started asking we answered them honestly and if neccessary grafically and I would do the same again .All my kids were over 18 before they lost it ,because it wasnt made out to be a big deal or taboo etc and I am very proud of them .They are now hard working ,broadminded ,well rounded young adults now .

Well , The age of consent in the Philippines is 12 years old.

I think similar aged is an important factor there. Also, one needs a good sex Ed program in place to prevent teen pregnancy.

I think lowering the AOC for kids of acceptable ages is fine but keeping the current age for 18 + is a good idea. That being said I think the onus needs to fall more on the shoulders of the parents and less on the over burdened system.

I say 18. At 16 I was taken advantage of. Not very nice. I was too immature and inexperienced so it happened a lot to me. It still happens to older people but at 16 most of the time you don’t know what you want.

And well you should question a flat arbitrary age of consent. In the middle ages, boys and girls were marriageable at puberty There should be no set age, when the are mature enough and able to have sex, it will naturally happen.

In the middle ages, people married at puberty. People had short life spans, married early, had children many of who died in their first year of life. Sex is natural at puberty.

In Portugal it’s 14 I believe.

at 15 I was happy to be in with a lady, 32, i dont think she should have been prosecuted.

since 16 is the age oc consent there. what do you think of consensual contact between that 16 year old, and a man of say 40?

Im not sure a 15 years is someone I would even consider.....wow I got my girlfriend pregnant in High School and I can't imagine getting a 15 year old pregnant.....I'm not talking about my current age. At any age, I wouldn't want that to happen. I didn't think it would happen to me while in High School....of course I was wrong.

I think better sex education is the answer not so much about the how children happen but about the act of sex in love and enjoyment. I think parents should talk about it openly with there kids and explain it to them

I agree with that,18 is the consent age in the states. But some lower to 16,but then their is romeo and Juliet laws in place to project some people .
