Why are Republicans defending the killing of Alex Pretti?

One of my old school conservative friends on Facebook (not a Trump supporter) commented the above question. It seems clear to me that Pretti cooperated with ICE and was executed. I can think of a few possible explanations why Republicans would rationalize this instead of just agreeing that ICE made a mistake, but each one feels like it’s only part of the answer. What’s the heart of the matter?

It's really the same reason they are defending aligning with Russia, now no longer being concerned about the trampling of the 2nd Amendment by government agents, expressing only mild aversion to betraying allies, refusing to confess they know that you can't reduce prices of anything by 600%, and literally giving up on America's standing in the world. They (falsely) believe some petty fat slob with the grievances of a teenager and a failing 3rd marriage with kids who fear his wrath will reward them for their servitude. That's it. That is the sum total of their calculation.
