I really hate it

On true crime shows where a killer has killed more than once, the cops had every opportunity to have caught and convicted the killer the first time, but didn't. Then, when they actually do their jobs after the second, third, fourth and sometimes more deaths, the cops all talk tough like they had known who it was the whole time.

If the cops had done their job correctly, no one would would have died because they would have responded appropriately to the domestic violence reports and made sure the killer was dealt with when the behaviors started.

Cops suck at their jobs, period.

I remember once reading a murder in People magazine couple years ago. The woman had called cops a couple times on domestic violence from her husband. If I recall, she did have some bruises but it was definitely verbal assault and emotional abuse. The guy ends up killing her, and when the cops finally convicted him, one of them gave a statement. He said," Looking back we should have taken it more seriously and done something more for this woman " and that he regretted it. It was heartbreaking reading that. Those weren't verbatim words but very close. It's just mind boggling how many people suffer or worse, because of Inaction 😢
That being said many cops are working behind the scenes for years, to finally crack cold case murders. It is really phenomenal the details many adhere to, to finally nab a suspect.

@Coralmist Listening to an indepth poscast about Nichole Brown Simpson, the cops 100% failed her. She had called 911 so many times, some recording hom behind her threatening her but the cops always did nothing because he was friends with a lot of them and he was a celebrity. Like, they show up, talk about his career and then leave. Never once took him in to question, even with his behavior recorded on their own 911 dispatch and her having bruises. It was disgusting.

There needs to be more services to help prevent these things other than delegating it all to the cops. The cops are not adequately trained to deal with situations until they turn really bad. When we all said "defund the cops", we meant redelegate their absurd annual funding and divide it to more services to help deter crime *before* cops have to deal with the worst, but no one wanted to have that discussion.
