OJ dies of cancer

I thought there was extra heat coming from down below this morning!!!
Coralmist · 41-45, F
I just wrote on another post, not even once in my life have I ever thought' ehh' when reading someone died. even if they were unsavory, I felt still remorse for them. That did not occur today.

OJ can now rest....the murderer who killed his wife's children died today.
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
Good riddance
JSul3 · 70-79
The Grim Reaper....the one tackler OJ couldn't avoid.

An obituary I enjoyed reading.

@Diotrephes Then why was OJ found liable for their deaths in the civil trial?

@JSul3
Then why was OJ found liable for their deaths in the civil trial?
A different court, jury, and lawyers.
JSul3 · 70-79
@Diotrephes Why did OJ have $$$!, his passport and a disguise, while riding in the Bronco?
He wasn't trying to get to Mexico, was he?

We are not going to agree.
He murdered them...you don't agree.
Done.

Did he leave a detailed confession?
Ynotisay · M
@Northwest That would have taken integrity and honesty. It would never happen.
@Ynotisay Neither did Robert Blake. Oh, well.
Ynotisay · M
@bijouxbroussard You're right. They take their actions to the grave.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
I wonder how the jurors rationalized their acquittal all these years.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@trollslayer Indeed. I forgot about Furman and King. I also think it was the difference in the lawyers and racial politics were at play. Johnny Cochran was charismatic and spoke with great confidence. Marsha Clark was a mousy white woman with a perm, and Chris Darden was somewhat awkward and had no “street” about him.

I was on jury duty when the verdict came down, and the reaction of the black jurors was very telling. They knew he did it, but felt justice has been served as a kind of payback. They didn’t celebrate. It was more “yup, that’s how it goes.”
GlitterEater · 36-40, F
@Bumbles The jurors knew more about the case than you. It's a good thing when people who everyone thinks is guilty don't get convicted.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@GlitterEater The case was very well reported and so they didn’t know more than me. They were seduced by Johnny Cochran and I assume have rationalized letting a brutal murderer go and making the families of the victims suffer that much more.

And people didn’t think OJ was guilty. They knew it. Even the jurors, probably, deep down.

The standard was “beyond a reasonable doubt” not, “well did you see it personally, and even if you did, maybe it was an OJ double.”

The appropriate thing to do when someone dies is to have some level of compassion.
Pass.
JSul3 · 70-79
@Ynotisay Compassion for his kids, who lost their father....pos as he was....but no compassion for him.

He had a good life....more than Nicole and Ron did.
I guess now people can stop using him as a punchline for everything. I still say if it had been his first wife and "Leroy" at Popeyes Chicken, nobody would’ve cared—then or now.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@bijouxbroussard I can't 100% agree because Simpson was a well-known famous athlete, but I certainly agree that fewer people would have cared then, and much fewer would have cared now. Much of the interest in this case had to do with race, either directly or indirectly. I doubt the whole trial would have been televised if it were his first wife, nor do I think his trial would have lasted nearly as long.
@trollslayer A lot fewer would’ve cared. I agree with what you said about Mark Fuhrman’s history being a huge factor in the acquittal. I have family in LA and remember what was being said during the trial. The prosecution made a huge mistake focusing so much of their evidence on him.

Justice has finally been served, sooner or later we all meet our maker
I hate it when they die after having lead a full life. The disgrace and the armed robbery conviction didn't empty it enough for me.
