Should police have the legal right not to help people who hate/don't support them?

Like if someone called for the police needing their help, and when they got to the person's house they notice either a defund the cops or an all cops are bastards banner. Should that give the cops the right to just leave and let the person deal with it on their own?

No. They're public servants. If they want a choice, they can quit.
@IllThinkOfSomething Technically they work for the city, county, and state, not for us, only the county Sheriff is an elected official, i.e. public official, the rest are hired staff.

@NativePortlander1970 so they work
In an official capacity for a public servant, as an extension of that public servant's will. That's still being a public servant.
@IllThinkOfSomething Nope, not no more, look at my reply to @JimboSaturn , the screenshot I supplied, SCOTUS essentially removed that status of public servants from law enforcement, they now serve at the whim of corporations.

@NativePortlander1970 the court's judgment is wrong.
@IllThinkOfSomething Like I told Saturn, take it up with Roberts.
