Should police have the legal right not to help people who hate/don't support them?

Like if someone called for the police needing their help, and when they got to the person's house they notice either a defund the cops or an all cops are bastards banner. Should that give the cops the right to just leave and let the person deal with it on their own?

They are paid to be professionals. Whether they do all the time is another story.
@JimboSaturn The US Supreme Court has ruled that they're not legally obligated to.

@NativePortlander1970 REally? that doesn't sound right. In positions where you are sworn to protect people etc... you have a fiduciary duty to help.
@JimboSaturn Take it up with Roberts then.

@NativePortlander1970 that is pretty crazy!

@NativePortlander1970 they should change it so that it is a constitutional duty to protect citizens. I mean isn't cops motto "to PROTECT and serve"?
@Sweetguy024 They should, yes, but because the US Constitution does not specifically include authorizing policing communities, SCOTUS determined it's not a federal requirement to define their duties, or something like that, it's really convoluted.
