Why Didn't Pelosi & McConnell Request The National Guard For J6?

Tucker interviewed Capitol Police Chief, Steven Sund. The interview took place at Fox and was never aired. Gotta wonder why. Regardless, Tucker now operates independently, re-did the interview and it's now out on YouTube. About 55 minutes long, and worth watching.

Takeaways:
Why was the intelligence regarding potential threats withheld from the Capitol Police?
Why did Pelosi & McConnell ignore the threats and decline assistance from the National Guard?

Below is the Capitol Police's documented timeline of what transpired up to Jan. 6th:
The police acknowledge the threat of opposing protest groups no later than Dec. 16th.
They begin developing their actions plan Dec. 18th.
As days pass, the threat assessment escalates.
On Jan. 2, Carol Corbin of the Dep't of Defense reaches out to Deputy Chief, Sean Gallagher to ask if Nat Guard resources are needed.
On Jan. 3, no request forthcoming.
On Jan. 4, Sund contacts the Sergeant of Arms of both the House & Senate to requests authorization for the Nat Guard, and is denied.
- remember that at the point Sund makes this request, Trump has already given authorization (per Sec of Defense Chris Miller's testimony), and Sund doesn't have a complete picture of the full threat.

Neither Pelosi nor McConnell are in charge of the Capitol police operations, or are chairs or members of any of the committees that provide Capitol Police oversight.

The Capitol Police Board is made up of the Sergeants of Arms of the House and Senate, and the Architect of the Capitol, with the Chief of the Capitol Police serving ex officio as a non-voting member. Chairmanship alters between House and Senate.
@SumKindaMunster 💯 on 🎯
You see articles on the internet that are cleverly worded to make people draw faulty conclusions.
@Taliesin33 Correct. And on Jan. 4th when Sund connected with the other board members to discuss NG assistance, no emergency existed.
Taliesin33 · 46-50, M
And when Sund needed assistance on January 6th, and contacted the Sergeants at Arms six times, in none of those cases was Leadership approval required by either of the Sergeants at Arms.

Prior to January 6th, Pelosi's office received no requests for National Guard approval from Irving.

Irving told told Senator Cruz that it was only on January 6 that he “alerted (congressional) leadership that we might be making a request” for the Guard. “And that was the end of the discussion.” @BizSuitStacy
If not mistaken Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez acknowledged she’d heard or been made aware prior to the event, of possible problems that occurred on 6 Jan.
The events of Jan 6th didn’t on one day, just materialize out of thin air.

No doubt, there were people in our intelligence communities who very likely had prior knowledge of what might take place, on the 6th. If they were aware of such information and passed it on; you would think Pelosi and McConnell knew that;, and IMO simply chose to not take steps necessary to protect the Capitol.
@BizSuitStacy Resignation of who? Sund?
@soar2newhighs This is just one piece of the whole puzzle. They knew hundreds of thousands of people would be there, and there was a lot of intelligence to indicate there would violence (protestors and counter protestors). If what Sund is say to Tucker about some intelligence being withheld from him, then you have strong evidence that what happened on J6 wasn't something unexpected. Trump authorized the assistance from the NG, but it has to be requested. A contact from the DoD reached out and asked if Nat Guard support was needed, and was declined. And from the timeline recorded by the police, you see that was concerned enough to ask the HSAA & SSAA if the NG was needed. Once again, it was declined.
The j6 committee destroyed all their ‘evidence ‘ and information. Even tho they had a letter from McCarthy ordering them to retain them.
So orange man can’t get hold of it and use it as exculpatory evidence…

But ya know? Document handling only bad when trump do…

I’m pretty sure someone has a copy..
(NSA)
along with comms from Nancy on that day and days leading up to it..🍿

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout

Governor's are the Commander and Chief of their states National Guard.

@soar2newhighs That's true, DC isn't a state. It's the District of Columbia.
@nudistsueaz The way I see it is first of all it was a total screw up. Once it was known there was going to be a large gathering outside the Capitol before anyone entered; with the foresight to see that it might become what it did, appropriate actions should have been taken by all parties involved. That did not happen and if the blame game is to be played, out then let it come out in court because many were involved.

@soar2newhighs The elected people in DC have never planned for anything except padding their own bank account. Nothing new.

Not sure as D.C. is a separate entity, not a state. My understanding is that activation of a state National Guard is commenced by the respective State Governor. So?
AbbySvenz · F
Yes, states have their own National Guards, but the President can temporarily federalize them, basically allowing states to lend each other a hand in times of trouble.

The D.C. National Guard is the only one under direct control of the President, with the Secretary of Defense authorized to approve requests for aid by that would involve District of Columbia National Guard troops in civilian law enforcement activities. @soar2newhighs
@AbbySvenz Right. , I loooked that up and added it to my earlier post.
Is that first link to the Tucker interview? I'm getting a frowny face.
Very interesting

I would love to see y'alls reaction if it was a bunch of black people or people storming for worker's rights or against police brutality.

I would just love to see what that outcome would have been and what y'alls reaction would have been.

(Now cue the random pick of some token minority standing next to a comfederate flag in jan.6th)
@MethDozer moving on...they're rhetorical.

@MethDozer maybe you don't understand...the question is why didn't Pelosi & McConnell request the NG? Your speculatory questions can't be answered otherwise.
