Why Didn't Pelosi & McConnell Request The National Guard For J6?

Tucker interviewed Capitol Police Chief, Steven Sund. The interview took place at Fox and was never aired. Gotta wonder why. Regardless, Tucker now operates independently, re-did the interview and it's now out on YouTube. About 55 minutes long, and worth watching.

Takeaways:
Why was the intelligence regarding potential threats withheld from the Capitol Police?
Why did Pelosi & McConnell ignore the threats and decline assistance from the National Guard?

Below is the Capitol Police's documented timeline of what transpired up to Jan. 6th:
The police acknowledge the threat of opposing protest groups no later than Dec. 16th.
They begin developing their actions plan Dec. 18th.
As days pass, the threat assessment escalates.
On Jan. 2, Carol Corbin of the Dep't of Defense reaches out to Deputy Chief, Sean Gallagher to ask if Nat Guard resources are needed.
On Jan. 3, no request forthcoming.
On Jan. 4, Sund contacts the Sergeant of Arms of both the House & Senate to requests authorization for the Nat Guard, and is denied.
- remember that at the point Sund makes this request, Trump has already given authorization (per Sec of Defense Chris Miller's testimony), and Sund doesn't have a complete picture of the full threat.

Neither Pelosi nor McConnell are in charge of the Capitol police operations, or are chairs or members of any of the committees that provide Capitol Police oversight.

The Capitol Police Board is made up of the Sergeants of Arms of the House and Senate, and the Architect of the Capitol, with the Chief of the Capitol Police serving ex officio as a non-voting member. Chairmanship alters between House and Senate.
@AbbySvenz great deflection Abbey, but hey, Nancy and Mitch are the ones who can request the Nat Guard. They didn't.
AbbySvenz · F
Sorry if the truth is what you call “a deflection.” You were talking about Sund, and the Capitol Police, not the National Guard.

Speaking of which, no, Pelosi did not refuse to allow the Guard on Capitol grounds.
The decision on whether to call National Guard troops to the Capitol is made by what is known as the Capitol Police Board, which is made up of the House Sergeant at Arms, the Senate Sergeant at Arms and the Architect of the Capitol. The board decided not to call the guard ahead of the insurrection but did eventually request assistance after the rioting had already begun, and the troops arrived several hours later.

@AbbySvenz Read the title of the post. Read it again. Watch the interview. Read the same question asked in the body of the post.
AbbySvenz · F
And that is also answered in my reply above, and is the same as my original reply: that is up to the Capitol Police Board; neither Pelosi nor McConnell are on the Capitol Police Board or chair or are members of any of its oversight committees.@BizSuitStacy
@AbbySvenz
Pelosi did not refuse to allow the Guard on Capitol grounds.

She and McConnell were asked. They said no.
AbbySvenz · F
Every single fact check about that refutes it @BizSuitStacy
@AbbySvenz 🤣🤣🤣
Try using your brain instead.

Read the actual police transcript... particularly page 6 where Sund specifically asks the Sergeant of Arms of both the House and Senate. The decision makers are Pelosi and McConnell. They declined.

They knew there was likely to be violence, or do dou think Sund made the request without providing any reason or documentation as to why?
AbbySvenz · F
Neither McConnell nor Pelosi heard anything from their Sergeant at Arms. Who — as members of the Capitol Police Board— would not have needed Speaker or Majority leaders’ approval, anyway @BizSuitStacy
@AbbySvenz ohhh...so now you're going with the story that the Sergeant of Arms made the decision on their own. 🙄

Who — as members of the Capitol Poloce Board— would not have needed Speaker or Majority leaders’ approval

That's 🐂💩 and you know it.
AbbySvenz · F
No—that’s how the Capitol Police works. @BizSuitStacy
@AbbySvenz you can keep on dancing all you want...authority to request the Nat Guard resides with the Speaker of the House and Majority Leader of the Senate. That's how that works.

You can imagine that both Sund and House SoA, Paul Irving, will be asked to testify. Senate SoA Michael Stenger is dead.
AbbySvenz · F
Prior to the passing of the "Capitol Police Emergency Assistance Act“ in December 2021, the Capitol Police chief was required to seek approval from a four-member board that oversees the police force to get National Guard assistance.

S. 3377 passed the Senate and House unanimously, and authorizes the Chief of the Capitol Police to request the assistance of Federal agencies in emergencies.
@AbbySvenz Do you even bother to read?

Directly from The Capitol Police Board:
The Capitol Police Board consists of the Sergeant at Arms of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper of the U.S. Senate, and the Architect of the Capitol. The Chief of the United States Capitol Police serves in an ex-officio non-voting capacity.

Oh look...the board consists of the HSAA & SSAA. Sund is the non-voting member.

Sund asks the HSAA & SSAA for the authority to request the Nat Guard. And it was DENIED.

And on who's authority does the HSAA & SSAA say yay or nay when asked if NG assistance is desired? Why, it's the Speaker and Senate Majority leader. So despite your gyrations, we're back at the same question. Why didn't Pelosi and McConnell request the NG?
AbbySvenz · F
The Speaker and Majority Leader are not directly involved.

That is why they elect Sergeants at Arms and a Capitol Architect
@BizSuitStacy
@AbbySvenz The decision to request the NG belongs to the Speaker and Senate ML. You suck at playing Liberal Word Twister.

Now go away.
MethDozer · M
@BizSuitStacy lol, you got owned by teenage girl🤣
@MethDozer I guess "owned" must mean she shot herself in the foot 🙄 She backtracked more times that Lewis & Clark. All y'all had to do was listen from about the 11 minute mark where Sund says he took the NG request to the HSAA & SSAA, who have to get congressional approval from Pelosi & McConnell, and it was denied. It's there in the timeline too.

Yeah...you both got owned as usual.
MethDozer · M
@BizSuitStacy No she didn't. You're just a diaingenuous idiot

You still haven't answered my question below. You never do when taken to task.
@MethDozer I owned you both sonny.
You never answered mine...and I asked first.
MethDozer · M
@BizSuitStacy Sure you did little ladyboy. Sure you did.

@BizSuitStacy I just skipped to the 11 minute mark, and Sund doesn't say that. It looks like typical Tucker BS to me.
@MistyCee What? 🤣🤣🤣
Sund says he has to go to the committee (HSAA, SSAA, Capitol Architect) with the request, and they (HSAA & SSAA) have to get congressional approval. Who do you think Sund is talking about when he say congressional approval? Well, to whom do the HSSA & SSAA report? Sund tells us it's Pelosi & McConnell. Then Tucker says...Pelosi and McConnell shut down the request. Sund says because of optics.

Y'all love playing word games.
@BizSuitStacy You have to connect the dots if you're going to blame McConnell and Pelosi, unless you're saying they're vicariously responsible for the Sergeants at arms. I didn't hear anyone say they took it to the Speaker and the Majority Leader, and what I hear both you and Carlson saying is basically, there's smoke, so it must be arson. Not just fire, but arson by specific arsonists.

Of course, we're still really looking for answers about who didn't call the fire department, as a whatabout to avoid blame for the folks caught on tape saying its time for stuff to burn, but if we're going to figure out what went wrong after the fire was set, I agree, the fire department shouldn't be ignored.
@MistyCee What part of getting congressional approval doesn't make sense to you? Who else would be responsible?
