After the Columbie massacre, a new policy for all law enforcement agencies was instituted.

Instead of waiting for the SWAT team to arrive, the LE people we supposed to go to the scene of the shooting and engage the shooter and thereby minimize the loss of life.
The horrific situation in Uvalde opens the door to MANY questions.

Also instituted was lock the door. Teacher propped the door open the shooter entered through one minute before he arrived to go get a cell phone. But everyone is mad at the cops.

@Johnson212 1. I had heard it was an outside door that had been propped open. 2. When parents are willing to run into the school to save lives, but the police are stopping them from trying to do so, I can understand why some are blaming them. 3. The police have either mislead or lied about at least one of the events.

@ProfessorPlum77 People were shoveling out information before they really knew what happened, not surprised some of it it was wrong. But the door is something they found out about, teacher wanted to get her cell phone and instead of using the one entry exit location as the safety plan dictates she used a back door and propped it open so she could get back in. I would not be surprised to learn that that was a normal occurrence keeping that door propped for convince. The shooter was shooting at people across from the school at a funeral home and at the school windows, this went on for 12 minutes before he entered through the locked door, why on earth they did not immediately call lockdown I don't understand.

@Johnson212 Some of this I have not heard. It begs the question how can a shooter be near a school and shooting a weapon for twelve minutes and law enforcement not respond?
😳

@ProfessorPlum77 I think they did, I have seen multiple timelines and they don't all agree, they got calls from the funeral home and the school I read 12 minutes but I am not sure that is right. They also did not just hang out for an hour, they did enter the school through the same door that was left propped open but were stopped at the locked classroom door, the suspect was shooting through the door from the inside blindly and hit one or two of the officers. The officers could not blindly shoot back though the door. It is not easy to enter through a locked classroom door while being shot at, I doubt the first officers had the equipment to breech that door, that is stuff swat teams carry. No doubt they will get the details right in the investigation but it will not be done over night and people should wait till then.

@Johnson212 The International Building Code states school doors (and most public doors) should open out. Anyone can quickly exit a room by pushing through the doors. Outward-opening doors provide easy exit access without the trouble of knobs or locks. Every try to kick in a door that opens out which someone is shooting at you through it ?
