How do you feel when people write to you...

With incorrect grammar ?

Whether a friend, family, spouse or boss etc...do you get irked when they don't use capitalization, or commas, etc? Or it doesn't matter to you?

It depends on the context, if it’s a quick message from a friend or someone close, I don’t really mind, people type how they talk. But if it’s something formal, like from a boss or in a professional setting, sloppy grammar can be distracting. It’s not about being perfect, just about making the effort when it counts. So overall, I notice it, but I’m not grammar police level irked unless it totally changes the meaning.
@mindstruggle That’s exactly the way I feel. I definitely notice it more in a professional setting (and I used to be a teacher; that’s hard to turn off). It doesn’t really bother me unless it prevents me from understanding the intent of the message.

I totally understand where you’re coming from. Sometimes those small things like missing commas or capitalization can make messages feel a bit harder to follow, even if the person means well. It’s nice you recognize they’re kind, tho, that really matters most. Sometimes I am that person too.

Totally get that! I bet being a teacher makes it hard to ignore those grammar things. But yeah, as long as you get what they mean, that’s what counts most.
My niece writes me letters and her Ds and Ls are backwards sometimes its adorable and she says banillia icecweem

@TryingtoLava Awwwwwwwww. My niece used to do that when she was little too. It's so adorable. She would come upstairs and we'd watch regular show together.

Her dad isn't really around much, so officially I'm her Uncle, but between her and I, just with everything I've done for her, how I've been there everytime she needed me, unofficially I'm her Dad.

Currently had to run her back up to the hospital so I called off work to run her up, hoping everything will be okay, just took her back for a cat scan.
@twiigss all my love to the little one

@TryingtoLava thank you Lava ❤ She'll always be a little one to me, but she is gonna be 22 this year.

It's not as important to me as it once used to be in some situations. But I can say my boss on texting is really bad with writing.

I have a confession to make. I was once part of the grammar gestapo. The rules were the rules and anyone who broke them needed to be corrected. I also insist on Oxford commas everywhere. I'm better now. I try to forgive such things. 🤷‍♀

If I can read it it's okay and if it's not supposed to be professional.
It's a red flag to me if it's supposed to be some kind of business and they can't put a sentence together.

I don't mind, If I can understand what they mean.

I’m used to it. 90% of my clients can barely write properly let alone know what grammar is

I'm not a smart guy, I'm bad at spelling grammar and all that stuff. I try my best though.
I don't care, it's a chat not a newspaper.
