How do you pronounce "Gel", "Gist" and "G"?

There is no rule that an acronym should be pronounced the way first letter of the words in the phrase are.

It should not be any more point of debate when the creator himself tells, it is pronounced with soft g not hard.

Jif is a peanut butter brand. Gif is a file type.
