When did the word 'Gift' become a verb?

The same with 'Guest', everyone's suddenly gifting and guesting everywhere. It's doing my head in 🤣

Probably around the time many people stopped understanding noun from verb, as in:

"the commute",

"the weekly shop",

"transitioning".

@ArishMell Exactly. The language is being mangled but it's being passed off as evolution when it's simply a lack of proper teaching.
