When did the word 'Gift' become a verb?

The same with 'Guest', everyone's suddenly gifting and guesting everywhere. It's doing my head in 🤣

The term 're-gifting' seems to have been in the vernacular for quite a while...at least 10 years I think, but gifting, not so long. Guesting, I'm not sure.

@amethyst1 Re gifting sounds okay, gifting on it's own or 'to gift' are nauseating and need to go away quickly.
