Australia and British people. What does Bloke mean?

I have been watching a lot of Australian and British movies and they say "Bloke" a lot. What does it mean and why do you guys talk so funny?

A bloke is a man

How do you get Bloke from man or male?
notsure · 56-60, M
@HumanEarth No idea slang i guess a bit like calling a man a geezer
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@notsure Indeed, though I think "geezer" is very much more a London word. "Bloke" is country-wide.

Anyway to answer HumanEarth's question, about the only link between man / male and the US "guy" is that Guy with a capital 'G' is a real though unusual male name, originally "Guido" (as of a certain Mr. G. Fawkes.)
