What's a word or phrase you think people use too often or incorrectly?

When talking politics, "fascist" is the big one.
"Racist" is another i hear alot.
"deadass" not even a word, automatically lose respect for that person
"literally" when they don't actually mean literally

I say literally sometimes lol. I'd chose these words (yes, it's more than one) as they are routinely used incorrectly now:

- racist

- fascist

- far-right

- bigot

- hate

- extremist

- minority

- oppressed

I don't care about other words that people misuse because that doesn't really matter. These words carry significance though and there are negative implications for people when they are wrongly applied to them...they are used to discredit you and manipulate other individuals into thinking that you're any of the above if you say anything that the Left doesn't approve of.

@SW-User used against you or just something you see often

Freedom. Freedom isn't really a thing. You can have the freedom to do something or the freedom from something else, but you can't have just freedom. It's not a possession.

It baffles my mind when so many political figures rally around the idea of freedom without really explaining what kind of freedoms they're really talking about. It's just a meaningless feel-good term that anybody can get behind because it's so vague that it can be interpreted in countless different ways.

You might as well have a political slogan that says "we're going to do good things and prevent bad things".
@TinyViolins The freedom to choose democracy by the majority of people and a constitution with laws that protect the people from foreign or domestic enemies.
@TinyViolins "We must beware of a small group of men who would pluck the wings from the American Eagle to feather they're own nests." FDR

@softspokenman im not as concerned about that but i believe i understand what you're trying to convey. There are many freedoms we do have and many we dont

A podium is a platform people stand on in order to be seen. A lectern is a piece of furniture that holds printed material for oral presentation.

If a person "stands behind a podium" we might not be able to see them.

Someone needs to explain this to TV news reporters.

Extremist

It can not by definition describe a norm.
