I go to is a comfort food or something you can assume it's going to be okay.

A favorite is one u know u enjoy and that is physically known to be the best that you like
corta24 · 41-45, M
@Playtoyking Thank you. I'm asking the adjective go-to, not the verb go to.
katydidnt · 61-69, F
I apply a go to to anything that suggests most strongly and naturally a response most fitting my own circumstance. It is one, apart from the rest.

To me, a favorite is something that unusually elevates me personally. It may be one of many.

@katydidnt Thank you
'go-to' has about 16.68 bits of entropy whereas 'favorite' has only about 9.57, so 6.11 bits of entropy, but neither is very spectacular as a password.
'en(Z@YfFwwr}4Z+^ZK2b9@mxUiC>4RF,' has 196.73 bits and is closer to something you'd want to use.

grammatically, I'd pretty much consider them to be effective synonyms. goto has more of a modern, fastspeak connotation as opposed to the more traditional 'favorite'

@dirge Thank you. So, the two are pretty much the same?
@corta24 to me, they would be. some are drawing a distinction between ease/regularity and overall enjoyment, but I can't imagine being able to eat something often without it scoring pretty high on how well you like it.

@dirge Thank youi!

good question. Go To is the tried and true choice. Favorite is what you like to do.
corta24 · 41-45, M
@akindheart Thank you, but I don't quite understand it.
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
"Go to" is the quick second favorite thing, or a this will do me until I can have my favorite, or the next best thing I can find.

"Favorite" is your favorite, most desired.
corta24 · 41-45, M
@WillaKissing Thank you!
The go to is a regular habit which may or may not be a favorite, maybe it is, maybe it is just easiest? The true favorite may be more rare but not always .. the go to may be the favorite or not.. but of course they like it enough to keep going to it. So it is a favorite of sorts, maybe not The favorite but a likable enough habit
corta24 · 41-45, M
@SStarfish Thank you! It's a bit difficult to understand with my English ability though
@corta24 ok 🙂 favorite means they like it the most

"Go to" is they go to it often? Regularly
corta24 · 41-45, M
@SStarfish Thanks. I'm asking the meaning of the adjective "go-to"..
Corporalcolleague · 61-69, M
Go to is what's easily accessible, but your favorite might be less so
corta24 · 41-45, M
@Corporalcolleague Thank you, but I don't quite understand it.
Corporalcolleague · 61-69, M
@corta24 consider comfort foods you might make at home but a favorite food might be something prepared at a favorite restaurant?
corta24 · 41-45, M
@Corporalcolleague Thank you!

For me to go to is easier to to get than my favourite
supersnipe · 61-69, M
'go-to' means default, 'favourite' means preferred.
corta24 · 41-45, M
