I go to is a comfort food or something you can assume it's going to be okay.
A favorite is one u know u enjoy and that is physically known to be the best that you like

@Playtoyking Thank you. I'm asking the adjective go-to, not the verb go to.

I apply a go to to anything that suggests most strongly and naturally a response most fitting my own circumstance. It is one, apart from the rest.
To me, a favorite is something that unusually elevates me personally. It may be one of many.

'go-to' has about 16.68 bits of entropy whereas 'favorite' has only about 9.57, so 6.11 bits of entropy, but neither is very spectacular as a password.
'en(Z@YfFwwr}4Z+^ZK2b9@mxUiC>4RF,' has 196.73 bits and is closer to something you'd want to use.
grammatically, I'd pretty much consider them to be effective synonyms. goto has more of a modern, fastspeak connotation as opposed to the more traditional 'favorite'

good question. Go To is the tried and true choice. Favorite is what you like to do.

@akindheart Thank you, but I don't quite understand it.

"Go to" is the quick second favorite thing, or a this will do me until I can have my favorite, or the next best thing I can find.
"Favorite" is your favorite, most desired.

@WillaKissing Thank you!
The go to is a regular habit which may or may not be a favorite, maybe it is, maybe it is just easiest? The true favorite may be more rare but not always .. the go to may be the favorite or not.. but of course they like it enough to keep going to it. So it is a favorite of sorts, maybe not The favorite but a likable enough habit

Go to is what's easily accessible, but your favorite might be less so

@corta24 consider comfort foods you might make at home but a favorite food might be something prepared at a favorite restaurant?

supersnipe · 61-69, M
'go-to' means default, 'favourite' means preferred.
