A newly minted First Lieutenant arrived at a remote military base buried in the middle of a sun-baked desert.

During his first week, he noticed something bizarre: his fellow soldiers were obsessively pampering a single, surprisingly smug-looking camel. They groomed it, scrubbed its hooves, and fed it fresh mangoes like it was a deity in a hump.
Baffled, the Lieutenant pulled a seasoned Sergeant aside. "What’s the deal with the camel?"
The Sergeant gave a knowing, weary nod. "Sir, when you’ve been out in the dunes long enough and the solitude gets to you... well, that camel is a lifesaver." He patted the officer’s shoulder and walked off.
The Lieutenant gagged, shook his head in absolute disgust, and marched back to his quarters.
Four agonizing, arid months crawled by. The heat grew unbearable, and the sheer isolation finally wore the Lieutenant down. Desperate and out of options, he quietly ordered the Sergeant to leave the camel outside his quarters after lights-out.
Under the cover of midnight, the Lieutenant crept outside. He stared at the beast. The beast stared back. Swallowing his pride, he pulled out a footstool, took a deep breath, and proceeded to get uncomfortably acquainted with the desert livestock.
Surprisingly, he made it work.
The next morning, the Lieutenant strolled out of his tent with a spring in his step and a strangely relaxed smile. He bumped right into the Sergeant.
"Morning, Lieutenant! You're looking unusually refreshed," the Sergeant noted. "How was your night?"
"You know, Sergeant," the Lieutenant winked, "it was surprisingly liberating. A bit coarse, but a truly novel experience."
The Sergeant grinned. "Told you! The girls at that brothel are top-tier."
The Lieutenant froze. "...Brothel?"
"Yeah, the one ten miles up the road. You rode the camel there, right?"
