I just got a new hvac system, just in time for the dog-days of summer 😓

@faery Well, at least you will be cool. My air conditioner is a portable. It's all they will allow here, and they limit us to 500 BTU's, which just doesn't do the whole apartment. I try my best. I have fans placed everywhere to try to blow the cold air toward the bedroom and bathroom and kitchen.
@4meAndyou ac/hvac (central air+heating) is a breeder of toxic air: via stagnant air = mold = mycotoxins = illnesses and worse.
So, be happy, as you are much better off, in terms of your health, without an AC/hvac!

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON My AC grows mold, too. They all do. I have to clean it off the inside of the vent hose and the moving fan blades every year. I can't even open it to clean the water drip tray where all the REAL mold is growing.
For now, being coolish in the horrible summer heat is more important than worrying about what I can't fix.

@4meAndyou Are house air vents even made to be crawled through and properly cleaned? That's where the BIG BAD problems lie: mold.
I am not an HVAC specialist, maybe some one can weigh in?
YES! looking at solutions not problems. 👍

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON She's talking about a window unit. They are impossible to clean all the way.

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON HVAC specialists have tools and equipment that cleans the vents. I hired a vent cleaner when I bought a fixer upper house in Michigan a few years ago, and they cleaned bird feathers and loads of mouse turds out of the ventilation system.
HVAC specialists seal off the vents, then use a high powered vacuum to clean out the mold. THEN they address preventing future growth with a chemical treatment.
