A man stepped into his garden and immediately noticed his broken fence.

He decided to search online for someone to fix it but was disappointed by the high prices. That is, until he stumbled upon a listing for a Buddhist monk who offered to do the repair for free. Initially surprised and a bit skeptical, he figured he had nothing to lose since it was free, so he hired him.
A few days later, true to his word, the monk arrived with a toolkit. The man showed him the damage: the fence had been ripped out of the ground and needed replacing.
About an hour passed, and the monk reappeared, announcing he was finished. The man went outside to inspect the work and found the fence perfectly repaired. Feeling he couldn't just dismiss the monk after such excellent free work, he invited him inside for a cup of coffee.
As they sat, the man struck up a conversation.
"It surprised me to see a monk offering fence repair services," the man remarked. "Why do you do it?"
"Religious reasons," the monk replied simply.
"I don't know much about Buddhism," the man admitted. "Why do you need to repair fences?"
"Because," the monk explained with a slight smile, "you'd be surprised at the amount of karma you get for reposting."

I don't get it, Rushdude. What is reposting?
@hunkalove It's a Reddit joke. Reddit awards "karma" as your aggregate score for likes and posts.

@LeopoldBloom I've heard of Reddit. Don't know what it is.
@hunkalove It's a social media network where users participate in "subreddits" that are limited to specific topics. For example, if you follow r/scotch, the only allowed subjects are scotch whisky. So you can curate your own feed to include only what you're interested in.

Reddit can feel overwhelming at first because there are so many users and it doesn't feel as much like a community as SW does, but I find it rewarding and enjoyable.

@LeopoldBloom I'll pass.
