@GuyWithOpinions Good question. I don't, but willing to guess somewhere between fifty to a hundred miles. They were last used in WWI. Perhaps there are some old army signal corps. training booklets about it.

I used to use CB radio here in the States. Not many do it anymore, but Ham radio is still going strong worldwide.

@GuyWithOpinions I heard that third world countries leap frogged us technology wise because they had to install from scratch so went with satellite and fiber optic right from the get go. Our Internet can be slow when it is still coming over an old landline.
