Do you ever think about unplugging from the internet?

Do you think you could actually do it? Or, if not unplugging entirely, do you think about reducing your time spent online?

Yup, I’m online way less than I used to be and plan to be online even less after this weekend. I’m not ready to unplug completely though lol

I can't unplug entirely due to work, but I have no issues to being off line for long periods of time. I have other things to do/and enjoy doing. I think it's tougher for those who never remember a time without internet:)
Yes, occasionally. SW is the only social media I use now. So when I don’t peek in here, I’m basically unplugged except for ordering groceries or checking the weather.

Might not have a cholce. The hard drive companies are basically bankrupt. When tgey go. The internet goes.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Tastyfrzz there are too many anyway. That won't be the reason, though it's possible for other reasons like black outs. I see that happening.

Blackouts will affect even most non computerized industries.

I went a whole week without it and got back to reading books. It was great. Then the power came back on.

Not entirely, no. But my social media use has significantly reduced over the past few years.

Yes but I'm kinda unsuccessful at it

@SW-User Same. I wasn't even going to come back to SW, but then I did 😂

@SW-User I thought you were new

@SW-User I was never here much. I think my first account I was only here for like three months before I left. I guess I like this site more in short bursts. Lol
I'm not addicted to the net.
I spend most of my life outside doing landcare and management.
I spend only as much time as necessary for answering my emails
and a bit of entertainment when I need to rest.
It wouldn't bother me if the electricity grid went down and, with it, the whole of the Net.
It has done during power outages and I enjoy it.

Going off grid is more difficult now than in former times as much business and personal correspondence is online....Sure I COULD snail mail my friend on another continent but🤷‍♂️

This IS my only social media, but youtubes a blessing.....maybe I could go on a diet but online purchases helping me get through the pandemic

I have thought about it, but then I realize how unrealistic it is to completely unplug from the internet in today's time. Everything is done online, and cutting it out, at least in my opinion, isn't feasible.

I have thought about reducing my time online, and I have done that in the past.
Piper · 61-69, F
No, not from the internet. Yes, as in spending less time online for things that are not important, really, in the scheme of things.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Have done it a few times before, might have to do it again. Not a problem really. Those times included TV.
iamelijah · 26-30, M
I wanna to but I couldn't since internet is my source of escapism.

I could reduce it by doing house chores.

Yes well ended my ties with dishtv a month or 2 ago so that's all for now..
