@gol979 You are confusing several things in your discussion. In general, an individual should have control over their life. However, there is also such a thing as the better good of society. Shouldn't we all look out for the less fortunate in society and help protect them from harm. there are many times when we surrender some control. We have laws in society that set us aside from lower animals. It is impossible to go for a day without the impact we have on others. with a life threatening pandemic, of the possibility of other outbreaks, we need to surrender some control. We need clean air and water, we need a level of immunity to prevent outbreaks of illnesses. One of the greatest advances in modern public health was the invention of vaccines. I was a pediatric resident in the 1960s, that was really not that long ago, but I saw children dying from diseases that most people probably have not even heard of today, other children whose lives were ruined by the side effects of other now preventable illnesses which left them deaf, blind or so physically damaged that they need long term care.

the decrees as you put them, were based on science and to protect you. i suggest that rather that the time being a gross time for what you say, it will be remembered as when a small noisy group did serious damage to the advancement of human life and scientific methods. We are now already seeing thee downstream effect in the measle, and whooping cough outbreaks in several states in the US.

@gol979 That dark time in America society was driven by Democrats. It was the true great threat to democracy in America. For the first time, freedom was restricted based on something other than race in America. Democrats cried that Trump was the threat while clergymen were arrested for holding worship services, working people had their businesses and their American dream killed, and children lost precious time to grow and learn to prepare for life.

@samueltyler2 And sometimes the cure is worse than the disease. Science is not some sort of holy grail. It is conducted by fallible humans. Some work for good and some work for evil. I know a lot more people who died from the vax. I don't know anyone who died from COVID. Funny thing is I don't know anyone who was not somehow adversely effected by the vax. I don't know anyone who was adversely effected by COVID. As a former scientist who did scientific research I prefer to do my own analysis. While my little sample may be small its pattern can not be denied. 5 people dead from the vax and no deaths from COVID. 26 people having adverse reactions to the vax not one having a reaction to COVID.
