There seems to be a dearth of world statesmen around these days

Few people of vision, or responsible leaders

We only need one, true leader. He may be stumbling and bumbling a bit more than he did before but at 79 what do you expect? Plus, any and all problems will be tackled and solved in 2 weeks time. Every one, yep. In two weeks.

The problem is that voters want simplistic answers to complex issues and are happy to elect people who assure them that they are not part of the problem - it's 'others'. Anyone with true insight who tells people that what they want involves them behaving differently and paying more will be at the bottom of a 'pile-on'.

There are still plenty of visionaries and pragmatic statespeople, but electorates increasingly reject them in favour of con artists who tell them what they want to hear.

I have vision.. but not responsibility 😅
Sure, the USA gutted and cut their state department and Europe did, too. But the rest of us aren't brutality inc.
