How much do regular passports cost in your country?

Here in Oz, the current cost of a 10 yr adult passport is A$412, while a 5 year adult or child passport costs A$208.

You can get it within two business days after submitting the completed application if you pay an additional A$300.

So if you needed (or wanted) to travel overseas at very short notice, you not only have to pay a massive amount for the airfare (since it's being booked a couple of days out not 6 months or more in advance), but you have to pay a massive amount to get a passport.

International travel (for Aussies - since we have no land borders with other countries) is only for the rich since Covid restrictions went away.

It's been so long since I travelled outside Australia that I don't know what the requirements are now.

That seems very expensive. I just looked it up here; a new adult Canadian passport, without rush service, would be $120 Canadian dollars for 5 years or $160 for 10 years. (That would be about $130 to $180 Australian dollars).

In Canada, to renew a passport is $120 for 5 years and $160 for 10 years.

For minors between the ages of 1 to 15, it costs $57 for 5 years.
