When did you get the feeling of déjà vu and why?

The last time it happened to me I was living in a rented room with a beautiful view of the Unitarian church up on the hill. I remembered the moment completely and still do. I was ironing in my room, with the blue curtains at the window, looking across the stream up to the church at the top of the hill.

I got the feeling when playing a school team tennis match.
I was losing the match, had sat down while switching sides and saw a vision of hitting a topspin crosscourt backhand past my opponent (my usual backhand was a slice).
I started hitting crosscourt topspin backhands, and won the match.

I think I had figured out that he wouldn’t be expecting that shot, as I usually hit slices and often hit down the line rather than crosscourt.

At a weekend lodge retreat with friends. I'd not been there before.

Everywhere I go I seem to bond with a kindred spirit. We met quite by accident. During the introduction I realized the surroundings were startlingly familiar, and I knew our dialogue word for word. And had prior memory of this very meeting, in striking detail. It played out before us like a script.
