You have a right to hit back, obviously, regardless of gender. Unless it was something obvious like self defense on their end.

@BlueVeins I'm speaking hypothetically. If I hurl insults at him then walked up to him and he hits me or if I hit him first I'll just get up and trying to hit him again.

@Chickie Yeah whoever hits first is clearly in the wrong in that situation above all else; being insulted is nowhere near a legitimate reason to escalate to physical force. IDK I guess you could make an argument that it's bad to hit back if you were talkin' shit for no reason to begin with bc then it's kinda like you were lookin' for a fight, but at that point my sympathy for the first hitter has worn through anyway and I don't really care.
