It doesnt matter how many locks you have on the front door if they leave the skylight open or are lhooked into the wifi on the photocopier..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman happy wife, happy life right?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@akindheart Well, normally yes. But this one is Scottish. They dont do "happy".To quote another Scot, Billy Connolly, "The Scots are the only people who can be homesick for a country while they are still in it".😷

@whowasthatmaskedman now that's funny

Hackers are so talented, KH. I don't know what else to say. Nothing is sacred or secret anymore.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@PoetryNEmotion i was worried about entering my info on Experian Credit protection to be honest. that is all of my personal info right there
@akindheart There should be a better way to do this. Surely there must be a way to thwart the hackers?
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
I have a bridge to sell people who believe anything on the internet is secure.

akindheart · 61-69, F
@therighttothink50 i was just reading a story in either AARP or AAA about the dark web and how your info is sold. it is scary.
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
@akindheart it’s evil and those who value convenience over freedom and privacy deserve what they get.

USE CASH or lose everything….
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Companies go cheap on their cyber security. The best anyone can do is to keep a freeze on their credit with all three bureaus. And log into all of your bank, brokerage and card accounts at least once a week.

Financial apps are handy but just don't. You're screwed if you lose that phone.

If you have a retired laptop, use it only for financial matters. And keep it at home.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Crazywaterspring i just joined free Experian Credit protection through ATT. i locked my credit report with them. i have to do it with the other 2 next. i destroy the hard drive when i donate my laptops. and yes, i check the banks all the time. i was a little worried about putting in my passport etc on experian. who is to say they won't get hacked
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@akindheart Smart moves!

Whatever you come up with to stop theft, the thieves find a way to beat it.

My pharmacy has had a data breech, ATT has had a data breech, and the medical center has had a data breech all with my data included.....all this year. Seems like I get a letter or two from someplace or other every year. "OOPS we are sorry, we suggest you monitor your credit...blah blah blah.

They insist that I give the information to them....then they let if loose.

It seems to me that they made the mess, let them clean it up.
WillaKissing · 56-60
I am sorry dear, and yes you are right, one would think with the money they make that some portion of it would go to security protection before a breach has been made.
Nebula · 41-45, F
All three? Seems like it wasn't them. I use BoA and they are very good at protecting info.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Nebula all 3 believe it or not.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
Only we seem to have trouble getting to our information,lol
