The university built a huge number of new apartments and planned on leasing them room-by-room for big $ and then tearing them down and building new ones after 10 years. Said it would save on maintenance such as replacing water heaters, garbage disposals, carpeting etc. They ended up not doing it because it’s not exactly “Green” to be dumping all that building material in the dump and the cutting down more trees etc. to build more buildings. Also might have made certain people looking like they were getting kickbacks for construction projects *cough-cough* A little bit too bold.

Unfortunately, too many urban areas went through just that phase in the "White Flight" days.
