What is a sacrifice you are willing to do to make your country better ?

something you personally are willing to do... and not something everyone else should do.
AmericanaChick · 22-25, F
My family is rich and we're all willing to pay higher taxes so that healthcare is more affordable to the public.
@AmericanaChick I'm not rich and can use the $ I get...but I agree.
AmericanaChick · 22-25, F
@SomeMichGuy That's why I like that Biden only wants to raise taxes on the rich. Non-rich people shouldn't have to pay more.
@AmericanaChick The effect of various tax "reforms" is that it freed everyone from upper middle class on up to grow...but not the middle class (jobs sent or mismanaged away), and with dwindling support at the bottom.

Reagan's getting rid of Federal funding for mental health institutions created a lot of instant homelessness, and so the "crazy homeless person" is an oldish saw which has a sad, tragic kernel of truth, but also makes it easy to "other" or ignore the homeless.

Assistance programs need oversight, but it makes sense for us, as a nation, to take care of the most vulnerable. (For you Republicans/Libertarians who want to jump on this, read the Preamble to the Constitution.)

I want to thank you for being like Warren Buffett and saying the obvious truth. 😊👏👏👏👍

I'd like to see a program the trade higher education for volunteer time. Want to turn that community college degree into a BS? Pledge 2 years of service with a payment stipend to anyone of several approved programs and your education is on the government. I would support that, I would take place in that.
RedFlower · F
@Graylight thats a good idea, i like that. just have to be careful to not take over actually paid jobs with volunteering
Graylight · 51-55, F
@RedFlower Hmm, delicate balance, that. But there has to be a way. There's always a better way - we've just gotten tired of looking forward for a while.
@RedFlower There are all kinds of things which can be done: rebuild trails in National Parks/etc., help imorove things in Appalachia, assist the Red Cross & FEMA in natural disasters, help kids & adults learn to read/do math, staff meals on wheels, help with activities for older people, call shut-ins, work at a food pantry or shelter, working with refugees, helping to teach English to newcomers, ...

Volunteer gigs like this would love an infusion of people...and make dollars go farther...and give people a better sense of what other Americans live like.

It doesnt have to be a sacrifice. You shouldnt have to loose a part of yourself for the better of others because if others are getting better, everyone gains from eachother.

I would do just about anything to make this country better even though its not my home country , but sadly I am only one very ill disabled man . There is nothing I could do on my own that would make any difference . Sadly the only thing that talks is money and the rich are happy to suck up to Royalty and government as the economy doesnt affect them unless they own companies that go bust or something that affects them personally . Until things change and working people are voted into government which will never happen , nothing will change .
RedFlower · F
@Rhode57 you could always volunteer and help other people maybe...
Rhode57 · 56-60, M
@RedFlower In no fit state to do that I barely have enough energy or feel well enough to go and shop once a week . I spend most of my time on my bed in pain feeling sick and unable to do anything but sit online on SW .

I’ll use energy-saving lightbulbs. But that’s it.
