Is remaking the Waldorf-Astoria worthwhile?

For the last few years, the iconic Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York city has been closed while the new owners completely renovate and restore the property. Its set to reopen at the end of this year.Is this endeavor worthwhile or is it a futile attempt to restore something past its prime to its formet glory.

@4meAndyou It certainty is,but there is one aspect of the renovation that I find disappointing.Ive read that the exterior of the building was designated by the city as an offical landmark,so the new owners had no choice but to restore the outside in its original condition. If it wasnt for that,I think they'd have been better off simply demolishing the entire hotel and building a brand new one from scratch.A new Waldorf for a new age,as it were.

@4meAndyou I take it from your icon that you approve of my idea.

@4meAndyou I love art deco! I also love the Bretton Woods Hotel, makes me feel like I'm transported back to the 1940s.

@DavidT8899 I don't know if it would have been cost effective...even with the billions they spent, they have the cachet of the original building, the original location, and the idea of a restored past of opulence and extreme luxury. It would be a tiny bit like tearing down the Empire State Building and trying to do it over.
