I think 'HOA' means Home Owners Association? What we'd call a 'Body Corporate' here?

I see stacks of 'HOA Karen' videos on Youtube and have to wonder how many of the 'stories' are true, or based on true events, when living in a residential setup where you don't have full uninhibited title and have to be a member of a collective 'management group' or similar.
