@saragoodtimes wow, that is amazing!
saragoodtimes · F
@samueltyler2 most of it is the school tax
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@saragoodtimes that is pretty standard. The US system to support education needs a serious study. There used the be significant federal for me ng to states and then states to local communities cities.

@saragoodtimes Oh my gosh 😮 Our house is paid for too and our annual taxes are about $2800 a year.

@samueltyler2 many people don't realize even when you pay off your mortgage taxes are forever. instead of forgiving student debt the AH should be giving to seniors so they don't lose their homes
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@saragoodtimes I used to get a veterans discount, but it didn't amp not much.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@saragoodtimes I can definitely agree with that.
saragoodtimes · F
@Musicman they reassessed ours when we put the pool in
Musicman · 61-69, M
@saragoodtimes Of course! They reassess with every building permit and improvement you make. 😢

@samueltyler2 my grandpa was a WWII vet and as such his town never charged vets property taxes
saragoodtimes · F
@samueltyler2 anytime here if you make major renovations they reassess. a built in pool is an addition while an above ground isn't
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@saragoodtimes none at all? We weren't that lucky.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@saragoodtimes that is weird.

@samueltyler2 after WWII property was cheap so taxes were pretty low. now can't buy a home in his town for under a million dollars. can imagine what taxes are in NJ
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@saragoodtimes all things are relative. We got out the f the service and moved the NJ. Our first house cost $42k and we had to use every cent of savings to pay the down payment. My salary at that time was $28k. Our automobile came st $3k.

@samueltyler2 Grandpa paid around $5000 for his right after the war. he paid no taxes because he grew up in the town. those who moved from elsewhere got a reduced rate. my dad's first car was a 67 Cutlass new and he says it was $2500
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@saragoodtimes that was so great. Did not know where he served?.
saragoodtimes · F
@samueltyler2 Grandpa was in the North Africa campaign
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M

@phuckoffNuno it all depends on where you live, the number of commercial ratables, etc.

SW-User
@saragoodtimes so... you live in a mansion with ocean frontage apparently. I've got 10 acres in the north east and pay 2500 a year in taxes
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
