do i pay or no?

i hired a plumber to fix a leak and phantom flush in my toilets. they said the gaskets i had put on weren't sealing properly because they were a little large for the older brand of toilet that i had, and that they would need to replace them to fix the problem.

but when i got the bill, there was a long list of other parts they had changed out: toilet handle, flush valve, etc. and on top of that, they billed me $600. to make matters worse, i can't even use those toilets because the toilet is still flushing and running on their own, so i had to turn off the water supply to save my water bill.

these guys ran up the bill and didn't even fix the problem. am i actually responsible for this bill?

That's what small claims court is for. Document everything though.

@DeWayfarer They are already lying and saying that they told me what the repairs would be.

@blindbob again the only way to resolve this is to take it to small claims court. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Documention is definitely needed. Like advertised prices, parts and costs you were informed about and so forth.

You need to actually show the court everything in court!

@DeWayfarer there's no documentation. they told me the hourly rate and what the repairs would be. i agreed. then they did something different.

@blindbob then you have nothing to show the court and it's your word against their word.

The court will likely dismiss any such cases. Especially if you have already have paid.

ALWAYS keep documents! Store them anywhere. Whether is paper or off the Internet!

You need those things to prove your point!
