It's soothing to me, and I like doing household chores while listening to music. I would like to think of it as a weird ASMR type of thing. Since I've been doing such since I was little, it just comes naturally to me.

I don’t like chores, but I do like less stress. Keeping up with certain basic maintenance chores creates less stress because when you go to do ABCD thing you need to do, especially when you need to do ABCD thing and you’re low on energy , then you don’t have to fuss.

Ex: being hungry and maybe tired, but discovering a dirty kitchen you have to navigate through in order to cook something.

If I could pay someone to do some of these
‘Life maintenance’ tasks periodically without it causing me financial stress I definitely would though lol… Hanging laundry doesn’t bring me joy 🤭

Casheyane · F
@WhateverWorks It's okay but I don't do it often. Back in the dorm, I do laundry at night. But many prefer to do it in the morning for the sun.

But yeah. Same thought especially in my teens. I wanted to be productive in other things. But of course there are somethings we'd rather not hire a stranger who you need to supervise.

Stress cleaning I do once in a while. But selected chores only.
WhateverWorks · 36-40
🤔 I’m not much of a stress cleaner. If anything, when I’m under stress I only do high priority stuff because I need to focus on whatever it is I’m stressed about — usually deadlines. Thankfully, my boyfriend understands that if my apartment is trashed that means I have an essay or something lol. What I was writing about before is a rhythm of preemptive cleaning as a form of preventing stressors from popping up on the regular. Using the example I gave above, I keep up with my kitchen so that way I can focus on cooking when the time comes rather than having to be stressed out by the mess I’d have to push around or clean before I can even begin cooking, the whole time mindful of the clock that I need to have everything done so I can get my kid to bed at a reasonable hour etc. etc. instead, I can just cook dinner @Casheyane

Think there’s several reasons why I like doing them. One is I grew up in a house where zero household chores were done, other than dishes being done every several days. It was embarrassing and why I rarely had friends over. Having a clean house that was kept up with was one of the many things I wanted my kids to have that I didn’t. Another reason is I don’t have a job. I don’t financially contribute to our family so household chores is a way for me to feel like I do. I need that sense of accomplishment and contribution for myself otherwise I’ll feel like a bum. And honestly, I have to stay busy due to a quiet mind that can go into an anxiety spiral real quick. Keeping my body busy helps distract my mind. I’m not anal about the chores by any means, but I do enjoy doing my part to have a home my family and I can be proud of.
Casheyane · F
@PerfectionOfTheHeart Ahh that makes sense in your circumstance :) Thanks for sharing.
FlowersNButterflies · 61-69, F
@PerfectionOfTheHeart You seem well adjusted, used the past to learn your future, and have created happy balance in your home. Kudos!
Carissimi · F
Housework is boring to do, but you feel good about it once it’s done. When it’s all you have to look forward to every day, apart from working out, reading etc, it’s pretty monotonous, and not stretching you to your full potential.
Casheyane · F
@Carissimi I'm not sure whether to count gardening as chore or hobby or both.
Carissimi · F
It depends if you enjoy it. If you do, it’s a hobby, if not, it’s another chore. It could be both, I suppose. @Casheyane
Casheyane · F
@Carissimi Yeah haha. I tried. I am not a fan. But I know people who are :)

I don’t like
But I don’t like messy homes either.
Casheyane · F
ABCDEF7 · M
I guess, it's because of their connect/love with their home and household. Household became a priority in their lives. They want it to be perfect, because it matters to them. They also consider their responsibilities more seriously.
Casheyane · F

It's a mental disorder.
GunFinger · F
It's a sense of achievement. When you do household chores and finish them you feel good looking at your house and you're proud of it. What your whole life looks reflects on how you treat your house. Even your car.
Casheyane · F
@GunFinger Makes sense

But I don't think they reflect our whole lives. Depends on one's way of life I suppose.

A house could be loud and messy and full of warmth and laughter because family and friends stay there to bond. Or it could be quiet and clean bec. it rarely gets visitors and the people inside rarely see each other at all.
A car could be untidy because the mother is always using it for chores and sending kids to school.
A car could be clean because the husband is going to date behind her back.
It depends.

I wouldn't say you're wrong. Maybe what you said is true for some people. Just that from where I see it, even a house and car are just parts of a life.
It keeps them alive, just accept it and be glad you have them.
Get your Granny high.😆 Just kidding, but it could be funny. Sit them both down and spark up a fat J.
Casheyane · F
@UnderLockDown Yeah. I am glad and grateful God is lending them to me :)
FlowersNButterflies · 61-69, F
In a world where we have little control over the big things, it seems helpful to have a lot of control over the little things.
Casheyane · F
@FlowersNButterflies That's a new perspective. Nice.
XDHyperGirlXD1 · 31-35, F
its proves how old your getting when you get excited when you get the new latest clean products for your home 😳
@XDHyperGirlXD1 I use Windex for almost everything except the dishes.

They're trying to set an example and want you to get the lead out. 🧽🧹🧺
Casheyane · F
@FloorGenAdm Personally I offered many times to hire someone to do them. XD

My home, I put effort in caring for inside & outside as well. I put things away & keep clean. If not feel unorganized feels good I accomplished it & enjoy. I'm grateful cause many don't and times I feel guilty. I'm an artist & I think ocd about order.🤓I can control my environment at 🏡
Casheyane · F
@OceanRoses Ocd = over controlling disease??
RainDropsandRoses · 22-25, F
It’s the sense of completing tasks for me
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
I think there's two causes... One is that's the way they were bought up, the second is nothing else to do...i think it boils down to a choice of living ins display HOUSE or living in a HOME
WhateverWorks · 36-40
🤔 gotta be more than two. I’m not trying to create a display home and there’s always a bunch of stuff to do 🤣@ozgirl512
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@WhateverWorks a broad brush statement of the extremes;)
Casheyane · F
@ozgirl512 that's a unique way of thinking. Though I think it's more than that. I'm assuming by house and home, you mean about people wanting just relax and be with family or please visitors and stuff. Is this right? I think it's possible for a place to be both.

Even a sanctuary. Like they could be in a castle or a cottage and yet they'll still feel the need to clean haha.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Probably because they want to keep caught up on the chores and like a tidy home. It can also be an anti-stress thing.
Casheyane · F
@cherokeepatti Ahh

Laundry + trimming + washing dishes = antistress??
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Casheyane It certainly can be. It seems to be something I do automatically when I have something really stressful going on. It helps take my focus off of the problem and onto the chores. So I kind of like doing them because it makes me feel better.
Casheyane · F
@cherokeepatti Ahh. Nice :)
I'm a mom (and a wife) but I really hate household chores. The only thing that makes me do most of the things is because I'm a hygiene freak.
Casheyane · F

Some people (mother) are mostly unemployed an rich, so they go crazy and like chores.
