When I worked at a grocery store, I had one of my employees get bitten by a "service dog". It wasn't bad, just a superficial wound, but he was kinda forced to get a tetanus shot the next day in order to work.

Me and another manager had to confront this guy about it (to get his story for HR purposes) and claimed his dog was a service animal and that my employee somehow provoked him. It was total BS, but there's not really any legal recourse in that situation since they're protected by the ADA

He ended getting up banned from the store for obvious reasons, but he still came back the next day with the dog. I caught him right away and had to kick him out. The big boss happened to be there and threatened to call the cops on him for trespassing if he entered again, and we never saw him again.

@TinyViolins no no no the ADA does NOT protect him!!!!! The ada states clearly if the animal is disruptive or aggressive it can be removed and prosecuted

@Rosiechick13 It can and was removed, but as far as prosecution goes, we have to prove the dog wasn't provoked. It was ultimately our employee's word against his, so there wasn't a legal option.

It was a wealthier part of town, so we had a lot of people bringing in their dogs. You have to brush up on these things

@TinyViolins Ive had a service dog for years. Provoked or not service dogs are supposed to be trained to ignore everything... You'd also have witnesses and camera footage ....

@Rosiechick13 Exactly, hence why I put 'service dog' in quotes. They're not supposed to react that way. I'm not sure if he was gaming the law in his favor or if he just had a poorly trained dog. Not much we could do either way.

It was the end of the night, so there were no witnesses around. I'm sure the footage exists, but I've never seen it and there was no need for it since we never saw that dog again and the employee didn't want to bother

@TinyViolins I get it but still
