My service dog literally got attacked by another dog

In a grocery store...... Where pets don't belong..... I've spent soooo much time reteaching

When I worked at a grocery store, I had one of my employees get bitten by a "service dog". It wasn't bad, just a superficial wound, but he was kinda forced to get a tetanus shot the next day in order to work.

Me and another manager had to confront this guy about it (to get his story for HR purposes) and claimed his dog was a service animal and that my employee somehow provoked him. It was total BS, but there's not really any legal recourse in that situation since they're protected by the ADA

He ended getting up banned from the store for obvious reasons, but he still came back the next day with the dog. I caught him right away and had to kick him out. The big boss happened to be there and threatened to call the cops on him for trespassing if he entered again, and we never saw him again.

@TinyViolins Ive had a service dog for years. Provoked or not service dogs are supposed to be trained to ignore everything... You'd also have witnesses and camera footage ....

@Rosiechick13 Exactly, hence why I put 'service dog' in quotes. They're not supposed to react that way. I'm not sure if he was gaming the law in his favor or if he just had a poorly trained dog. Not much we could do either way.

It was the end of the night, so there were no witnesses around. I'm sure the footage exists, but I've never seen it and there was no need for it since we never saw that dog again and the employee didn't want to bother

@TinyViolins I get it but still

Were you able to recoup the costs against the dipshit with the aggressive dog?
Rosiechick13 · 31-35, F
@ineedadrink nope ... Because she booked it with the dogs but the store won't let her in again
