It never really came up as am issue when I lived in Texas. Basically everyone believed in corporal punishment, and some even believed it should be present in school. Things are waaaaay different in Washington State (where I live now) so I'm just trying to see where people overall seem to fall, since my previous view of "basically everyone agrees with it" was clearly biased based on where I lived.

@Harriet03 you realize that this is a genuine thing that happens right? It's even a thing in some schools in the US still. The fact that it comes up doesn't automatically make someone a "spanko", because it's an actual topic that people don't agree on. And frankly in a house with MY cultural background, whether or not it's okay wouldn't even come up, because the idea as to whether or not it's okay is based on cultural, regional, and generational influences. So the fact that something that actually exists and is still widely used comes up doesn't make someone a "spanko", even if you can't get past connecting it to a "kink" in your mind lmao

@Lucyy That’s mostly who discusses the topic on this site. Even people supposedly “sharing parenting tips” describe in cringeworthy detail that make it clear they’re getting off on it. 😒
