PSA for the Midwesterners in this heat wave
Fans use, at MOST, 100 watts of power, while central AC units use 3500 watts of power while they are running. If you want to save some money, turn the temperature a few degrees warmer (leave it low-enough that the AC runs enough to keep the humidity low enough) and use a fan when you can to make it feel just as cool. Note: this won't work when the temp outside isn't very hot, because the AC won't run enough to remove humidity and create a cooling draft effect.
