My gran used to make it with a mortar and pestle. I make it in the blender or food ninja. Yes,you can buy it ready-made. I do often when I'm too lazy.

Did you wear safety glasses when you were making it?

Doesn't just putting water in it and turning it on clean it?

@JohnnySpot Never tried that! But if I did I would use soapy water first, and then clear to rinse.

I like to use warm water and a wet washcloth.

I hear my Sicilian in-laws laughing till they choke. Who could have afforded a food processor, even if they knew what they were?

I use a blender to make pesto, yes you can buy it in the store. It is better home made.

We always made it from scratch here, far before food processors were a thing.

I have seen it in grocery stores and delicatessens. I’m thinking fresh is way better.

I've been making it for years. Homemade, with fresh basil, is the ticket.

In the olden days they made pesto out of bark.

They would also use some craw fish shells, for texture.

I like the way you extend your pinky when you're pushing the buttons.
