Did people make pesto before they had food processors? [I Experiment In Cooking]

I just made pesto for the first time. Using my home-grown basil, and also some baby spinach. And I put it in the freezer in an ice cube tray for now. No cheese in it, taking the recipe advice to add the cheese when I use it, since I was freezing it. So this was kind of exciting, though now I have to wash the parts of the food processor and put it away in the basement again. I hope I didn't use too much olive oil. Can you buy pesto ready-made? Was this worth it?

I use a blender to make pesto, yes you can buy it in the store. It is better home made.

@curiosi @Maddie I hope you will be right about the home made being better! I'll have to try some from the grocery store as well to compare, though!

So I wonder if people who comment on making pesto always have a cat for the profile picture. So far it is 100%.
