I know that once my kids are out of the house I’m done and want to move into a place much smaller. I don’t need all the room. I’d love to have a small shipping container home, but they are very expensive. Id live in something like that, especially if it overlooked some water.
I’ve been thinking about once the kids are gone I’ll move into a small one bedroom apartment/condo in a building that over looks the busy city.
I don’t need much, and I’m hardly ever home much anymore anyway.
If I had my way, I’d live in a van or on a boat and just travel from place to place. But also maybe have the condo that I could rent out as some type of VRBO during the times I’d be traveling. That way I would still have a place to call “home”

that would be fun but being up in the air like that in cold weather it’s going to be hard to stay warm. I guess you could put a small wood stove in it. It would be nice to be up in the air and get a good view around you, also in case it floods it would be better protected including your stuff inside.
shipping container homes can get really hot due to the metal. I think you would need to put them under shade or be in a cooler climate, and have them insulated well. They seem extremely durable though….would survive well in a hail storm except for the windows.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout worst we got here are cottonmouths and copperheads, brown recluse and black widow. Don't see them very often though.

@JestAJester If you see a copperhead from up there you can pew-pew them pretty easily without getting bit.

There are many wood sheds that come cheap. I've seen a few on youtube that turned out to be quite nice after insulation and drywall.
JestAJester · 31-35, M
@UnderLockDown definitely not cheap

I don’t know anything but I have watched that tv show tiny homes. I think living alone in one would be fine but with others that would be a no.

That house looks like it's one kick from falling to the ground

@JestAJester you could build an outhouse if you didn’t want to install a septic tank and flush toilets or use a composting toilet.
