Light bulbs that last like 50-60 years?

There's a spiral type of bulb in my parents house that has never been changed and it still works. They bought this house 45 years ago and the house was old when they bought it. I'm guessing this bulb has been working for at least 55-60 years

There is a bulb that has been on since 1901, so 123 years!

I reckon these new LED bulbs will last forever also.

Are you sure it hasn't been changed ?

Edisons original bulb is still working but is never shut off because the filament will probably break

If you're talking about the bulb below, it would seem it has to have been replaced, unless it's in a spot where it is only very occasionally turned on. The cfl began production around 1976, so the timeline is there

No, this one is like 60 years old

@swandfriends it's not actually possible hon, they weren't made until starting at 1976. So, your bulb is not something from the future past

Ok well maybe it's like 48-50 years old. I just know they bought that house in 1979 and that bulb was in the kitchen when they bought it and the house was already pretty old when they bought it. I mentioned to my mom not long ago that I can't believe it still works

Did you know that the light bulb was the first item that manufactured standardised it's longevity. They all agrees on 1000 hours.A considerable reduction on existing bulbs at that time.To increase sales of course.

be careful though, some of those had mercury in them.
