This is one explanation
A primary motivation for the U-shape code requirement is to accommodate female users. The elongated bowl design along with the open-front seat makes it possible to access the more private areas without having to come in contact with the toilet.

if you have a seat at all... squat only toilets seem to become more common

You literally just blew my mind.. I never noticed that 🤯

Its just a style that they choose to buy. Commercial toilets are usually made from the same manufacturer but are used by a wider variety of people so they are hooked up to higher pressure water and have seats that even the fattest person can sit on without clogging. Makes for easier maintenance.

For universal fit
Pretzel · 61-69, M
I am guessing it is hoping not that the guys that don't life the seats will at least shoot straight and not pee on the toilet seat
NoodleDoodle · 22-25, F
@Pretzel in womans bathrooms ?
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@NoodleDoodle probably just cheaper to buy them all the same style

i like the U shape better... i would get one for my home... but then again how often do you buy new toilet seats
Vin53 · M
jeez, its because men dont lift the seat and piss all over everything.
Mudkip · 31-35, M
Idk maybe to accommodate more people? 🤔
1490wayb · 56-60, M
the size of the bowl is different...oval not round
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
It's for when men stand to pee, the gap is for pee to drop into rather than on the seat
NoodleDoodle · 22-25, F
@BigGuy2 is that a thing that guys just pee with the seat down ? thats nasty.. thats zthere for a purpose to move it so it doesnt get hit with sprinkles
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
@NoodleDoodle same reason yes
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
