Do mansions or compounds allow you to totally reconstruct?

Suppose you fully purchase a home that was considered a mansion or a compound. If you wanted could you tear it down and build your own custom home in its place,or would zoning laws prevent you from doing so?

Prolly not. It’s prolly heritage.

You can buy vlad the impalors castle for a cool 300 million.
No running water.
No electricity.
And the local heritage council won’t let you touch it…
Not necessarily but it’s usually easier to leave a single wall of the structure in place, in that case the project becomes a renovation instead of a rebuild and permits are easier to get

@Onestarlitnight So what you are telling me is that if you want to build a brand new place,it would be easiest of all-in terms of getting the necessary permits -to simply buy an empty tract of land and start from there.
