Gov. DeSantis Is Right To Attack Disney. Republicans Everywhere Should Follow His Lead

Woke corporations that wage war on families and target children should expect to be targeted in turn by GOP lawmakers.

News broke Wednesday the Florida Senate had passed a bill to dismantle Walt Disney World’s half-century-old “independent special district” status, an arrangement whereby Disney has been allowed, since 1968, essentially to govern itself. Gov. Ron DeSantis says Disney’s self-governing status should be subject to review, to ensure that it is still “appropriately serving the public interest.”

Good. Disney is reaping its just reward for inserting itself into the political debate about Florida’s parental rights bill, which Disney lost in spectacular fashion. Republican governors and lawmakers across the country should be taking notes.

This is how you deal with big corporations that try to throw around their weight and force woke policies on voters and families. You punish them, not just because they deserve it, but also, as Voltaire famously put it, pour encourager les autres (as an example to others).

Disney could have left well enough alone, BUT they thought they could try to throw their weight around on an issue that even the dimmest bulb on the Christmas tree should know is inflammatory to parents, who are, after all...their cash cow. SMH. Not very bright. Really.

If we COULD school Disney, we would probably suggest that they actually READ the bill, and we could also suggest that only pedophiles could possibly be interested in trying to sexualize kids younger than 4th grade. Finally, we would probably suggest that they stay the hell out of politics...because that's a dirty, filthy game.

@Carissimi Not a bad idea, but I dont want to see Mike Pence.Hes a good guy,but my impression is rhat he'll cave to pressure and go "mainstream"if elected.

Mike Pence is part of the establishment, and easily swayed. I don’t have much respect for the man, and won’t support him. @DavidT8899

Did you see what DeSantis is doing about twitter? he said that the Florida govt owns Twitter stock and that he may sue because they are not working on our best interest...GO DESANTIS!!!!

You gove tax breaks to attract businesses. If the business breaks the public trust, you take them away.

Disney has been going woke for many years now. About time their special status is removed. I remember one time years ago, seeing a commercial for The Proud Family for their civil rights episode. The main character, Penny Proud, dressed up as Angela Davis, an avowed Communist who moved to Cuba after she was accused of murdering a judge. Even then, Disney was not secretive in showing their woke-communist beliefs.
Best piece of information I've heard in at least 5 years!

I always said that companies should just do what they do and if someone wanted a comment on something else they should say they only have opinions about what they do. If you make socks that is all you will talk about socks. But this will be interesting, maybe the governor should just have taken the win, he got some legislation through on things he wanted he probably should have left it at that. If picking a fight with Disney there is some kind of downturn that effects any jobs he will get blamed.

@Budwick But Disney looks bad to whom ? As far as the governor is concerned it does not matter if they look good or bad to you but it does matter how they look to the people who live there whom might have a very different opinion of you.

Anyone with a soul.

@Budwick Which includes the majority of the voters in Florida polled on the issue-including Democrats.
