What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

As a young child, it was hearing my Dad's voice on a phone at Christmas. The call was patched in via Ham Radio from Vietnam. Bien Hoa.

Something about hearing him lessened my concern for his welfare. It was only when older that I realized how scared for him I had been. I also could not put into words what I felt at the call until later. Much later.

It was so visceral, I am not sure any words could capture it all.

@Neoerectus I have chills reading this!

@robbie2499 Your simple question really brought this out. Thank you!

LavidaRaq · F
I was away from my family for 18 years. The first year back, my house was being built. We had our Christmas outside. On a slab of cement. With a little tree. But I had my kids and family all there. Best Christmas gift ever.

The suede bomber jacket my dad got me when I was in high school. I had wanted one for a couple of years but knew our financial situation so I didn’t mention it that much. One year he somehow pulled it off and I loved it so much that I slept in it for a couple of weeks.

One time mom asked me to choose between a doll and sewing machine. I wanted both. I was pleasantly surprised when she gave me both.
Other times jewerly from the hub and my daughter.
But most recently one of my grandkids gave me a bracelet she made as an early Xmas gift. Thats my fav gift made from love!
I really dont want anything just to spend that day with my grandkids. They are my gifts.

JackDaniels · 46-50, M
@LavidaRaq it did. 14 hours in the air, long flight.
LavidaRaq · F
@JackDaniels ok, that? Not so much.
JackDaniels · 46-50, M

The ex had been saving money for years, and on Christmas, about 7 years after we met, he FINALLY gave me a 1 carat diamond solitaire engagement ring. It was a flawless diamond of the first water.
robbie2499 · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou Lovely.
This cheap electric guitar I wanted when I was in highschool. I wanted it badly. I can't play instruments anymore but at the time I wanted to learn and play everything I could get my hands on.

When I was 10, in 1960, I received a Westinghouse 7-transistor radio. I lived on that thing. Music was all I cared about. It was where, in January 1964, I first heard The Beatles.
robbie2499 · 61-69, F
@hunkalove I love this one!
