What to get my dad for Christmas?

He's disabled, bed bound, in a nursing home. He can't hold a book, and he can't manage to hold a cellphone. I wish I could bring in a CD player for him but there's really no room for it. I know he loves coconut chocolates but I got him that last year. Any ideas?

Spend time with him. Thats all he wants. Maybe a couple cookies when you go. Some juice. Water. Fruit maybe. A conversation.
Go to a thrift store. A blanket or comfy sweater he can wear.

He knows his time is running out. Im sure he will appreciate whatever you do.

Absolutely...

@Coralmist
Bring him home and take care of him as much as possible.

No offense. God forgive me for this, but if anything happened to, would they have put you in care home. Never.

@Royricky09 Unfortunately he can't come home..he can barely move the pain is so bad in his back. He has around the clock care, and I was his caretaker a year ago.
@Coralmist

That's not the life he wants.
Nothing matters, if possible bring him home. Let him enjoy the family time

Probably chocolates again. I remember you saying your dad wasn't there for you with how your mom was acting. I personally wouldn't waste any more time on the matter
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@deadgerbil I will get him a small gift because as much as the neglect was that he took part in, I have empathy because he's so ill. But even though some mentioned a more personal thing for him, that's too hard. It has to be small..so I'm thinking possibly chocolates again too. Thanks ❄
How about a book that you can read to him???

A chapter per visit will give him something to look forward to.

Why dont you just sing to him

Really good idea @GovanDUNNY, @Coralmist maybe a photo book or photo frame that also has a recording feature where he can push a button and hear you sing part of a song?
GunFinger · F
Read to him. A letter that you wrote to him for example. Things you want to say to him. And then you keep that in a nice container and put it on his bedside table.
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
Cozy blanket or pillow? Always nice to have new bedding.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@Notsimilarreally Plus his blanket they gave him is light. And winters coming...ty. 🦌
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
@Coralmist indeed! Hope you find the perfect item for him 🧡
Coralmist · 41-45, F
If you can, get him the new equipment that can help him stand up.
My father was on bed for about 14 years....

Maybe a radio so he has something to listen to
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@TurtlePink Good idea...I. Was only thinking of a CD player but there's really no room as it's large....a small radio could be nice..ty🌼

How about a cell phone stand or book stand?

Penny · 46-50, F
how about an mp3 player with ear buds or a little speaker and some of his favorite music on it?
Penny · 46-50, F
@Coralmist how about bringing him something homemade like cookies to share with his nurses or a banana bread or something? just tie a ribbon around it and it will look festive. banana bread is easy.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@Penny perfect idea
Coralmist · 41-45, F

How about a picture of the two of you together?
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
Same thing again. Who cares if it's a repeat. He obviously can't do much and if that is something he enjoys then get him those again.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@Musicman I was thinking that too. My uncle used to get my grandma' the same giant cookie tin every year, and she loved it!!
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@Coralmist Exactly! He'll be happy and that's all that matters.
