Being from Canada, I don't do much for Memorial day.
However, when I was in School, I did attend assemblies every Rememberance Day.
One such Assembly during my High School years, I recited a poem entitled: In Flanders Fields.

In Flanders Fields, the poppies blow.
Between the crosses, row on row.
That mark our place, and in the sky.
The larks still bravely singing, fly.
Scarce heard, amid the guns below.
We are the dead, short days ago.
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow.
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie in Flanders Fields.
To take up our quarrell with the foe.
To you, from failing hands, we throw; the torch, be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die, we shall not sleep, though poppies grow in Flanders Fields.

I watched all of Band of Brothers, starting Sunday, watched the Festival of Remembrance 2025 in London on Youtube, and watched the Youtube video of Hymn to the Fallen that shows the U.S. military cemeteries around the world and the number of men and women buried in each one. It is always a time for remembering for me.
